Beautiful Soup
Python library for pulling data out of HTML and XML files, with simple ways to search and navigate the parse tree
Visit Beautiful Soup →Beautiful Soup is a Python library for pulling data out of HTML and XML files. You hand it a page’s markup and it gives you a parse tree you can search by tag, attribute, CSS selector or text, which makes it the usual first tool people reach for in web scraping. It works with the parser of your choice: if you don’t pick one it uses the best installed (lxml first, then html5lib, then Python’s built-in html.parser).
It only parses; it doesn’t download pages or run JavaScript. Pair it with a library like Requests or HTTPX to fetch the HTML, or with a browser tool when the page needs JavaScript to render.
See Python Web Scraping Tools Compared for when it is enough and when to move to Scrapy, Playwright or Selenium.
