RQ
Simple Python library for queueing jobs and processing them in the background with Redis-backed workers
Visit RQ →RQ (Redis Queue) is a small Python library for putting jobs on a queue and running them in background worker processes. Any plain Python function can become a job: you define it normally, then call queue.enqueue(function, args) and a worker picks it up. It’s backed by Redis or Valkey, and its documentation describes a low barrier to entry that still scales to large applications.
That simplicity is the appeal next to heavier task queues. There are no broker choices to make beyond Redis, and retries, scheduled jobs and repeating jobs are built in. The trade-offs are that Redis (or Valkey) is the only supported backend and that its workers rely on fork(), so on Windows you need WSL or a different worker type.
See Celery vs RQ vs Dramatiq for how it compares with the other two main options.
